In 1972 the world was listening to heavy, intense, high energy music. In the midst of this noise, Chris Blackwell of Island Records released Tibetan Bells in the U.K. to critical acclaim.

Of the three recordings that are credited with starting the new age movement, Celestial Harmonies was involved with the release of two of them: Inside the Taj Mahal by Paul Horn (recorded 1968) and Tibetan Bells by Henry Wolff and Nancy Hennings. The other recording was Music for Zen Meditation by Tony Scott (recorded 1964).

Also in 1971 Deuter was signed to the Kuckuck label. His first recording D (11009-2) was issued that summer.

Celestial Harmonies is the only record label that has been continually active in this field since1968.
